Gulf single currency still relevant: Suweidi
A proposed single currency for the six Gulf Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, is still relevant after Kuwait ended its peg to the dollar, the Governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, Sultan Nasser Al-Suweidi said.
"The aims of the GCC single currency are to have mobility of funds between countries and to reduce the costs associated with it and to help with the economic integration of the countries, " Sultan Bin Nasser Al-Suweidi said in an interview on Al- Arabiya, an Arabic-language news channel.
"The UAE is still abiding by the aims of the GCC single currency union, " he said.
